Service brings restaurants to your home
Love a certain restaurant? Now they deliver with The Gourmet Taxi. The Gourmet Taxi is a unique company that provides delivery services for restaurants that do not deliver.
Among the 18 current restaurants on the Gourmet delivery list are IHOP, Subway and Mantra.
"We provide a convenience customers never had before," said owner Max Borin. "The restaurants they love now deliver."
Gourmet Taxi was incorporated in 2007 and currently has five employees. Borin, 22, has lived in Fair Lawn for the past two years. He is also part owner of Broadway Food Palace located in Fair Lawn and has received several awards for outstanding service such as the Bergen SBDC’s 2008 success award.
To place an order, the customer can go online to www.thegourmettaxi.com or call 201-797-3700. The Gourmet Taxi staff places the order with the restaurant by fax and the driver picks it up from the restaurant and delivers the order to the customer in 50 minutes or less to one of 25 cities in the area for a $1.99 fee. Minimum order is $10 and gratuity is optional in designated delivery zones and for orders less than $75. Gourmet Taxi charges the same price as the restaurant and offers a loyalty program that provides outside coupons for restaurants not available to the general public. Customers have the option of ordering online with a credit card or paying with cash on delivery.
"Business has been wonderful," said Borin. "We’re growing and will increase from 18 to 42 restaurants by the end of the year. We’re also looking to franchise."
