After 13 years of providing area small businesses with one-on-one consulting and information assistance to foster economic growth in the Greater Baytown community, Tommy Hathaway, Director of the Lee College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is retiring.

The Hathaway name has been a mainstay in the Baytown community for more than 50 years. Many Baytonians can remember the three family owned businesses called Hathaway’s Grocery, in which Tommy Hathaway managed from 1970 through 1995. Hathaway earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas.
“It’s been great helping clients start up their businesses and watching their success,” said Hathaway. “I’m looking forward to retirement, but plan to remain active in the Baytown community.”
Clients, small business owners and friends are invited to attend a retirement celebration honoring Tommy Hathaway on Thursday, July 31, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Bridge Water Event Center located on 2651 South Highway 146 near the Bayland Marina in Baytown.
