Free online course offered for startup businesses in N.H.

DURHAM — If you're thinking of starting your own business in New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center has the online course for you at www.nhsbdc.org.
An outreach program of the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics, the N.H. SBDC has launched the online course "Starting a Business in New Hampshire." It is one of more than 20 free online courses that are part of the center's e-Learning for Entrepreneurs courses.

I thought a little commercial humor would be fun, but in all seriousness, if you are in the process of starting a small business, you’ve already started a one or are contemplating starting one then you know that taking on such an endeavor can be quite a daunting task. In fact there is so much involved in the process that you just simply cannot do it alone and can be disheartening at times, especially if you feel you’re alone in the world. But you are not alone. The federal government knows that small businesses are critical to the economic strength and recovery of our country, especially as the economy stands today. For this very reason, programs have been put into place to assist entrepreneurs in starting their own businesses.

Randy Doss, owner of A-1 Charter Services in Shreveport, started his business in 1989 with a used SporTran bus he bought for $2,200.
He has since built his company to include a fleet of 15 vehicles. He did it by working long hours, paying attention to every detail related to his company and implementing something he calls "po-boy marketing."
New office at SUNY Ulster will help small businesses

Treasure Valley small businesses can get no-cost energy evaluations

The Idaho Small Business Development Center began the program last fall after receiving a grant to help small businesses reduce energy use. Twenty students completed 39 evaluations at small retail, service and wholesale companies in Ada County. The spring program has been expanded to offer evaluations to small businesses throughout the Treasure Valley.
