Synergy Summit Wins Support for SBDC Office on Mountain
Free consulting, business coaching, management workshops and help in developing financing are on their way to this Mountain Community to give a lift to local business owners struggling to keep people employed, lights on and doors open.
Immediately following the Synergy Summit business conference Thursday, Feb. 11, negotiations were completed to open a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) satellite office here. The contract will start on March 1.
Enthusiasm was high at the summit. About 65 business owners, entrepreneurs and managers participated.
WASILLA -- A new Valley organization says it wants to be a voice for local business owners who want to know more about local laws that affect them but don't have time to attend city and borough meetings or do a lot of research.
The group, Mat-Su Business Alliance, was created late last year by its president Kay Slack and a team of four advisers. Slack described it as an organization aiming to promote businesses and economic development, but one that also researches Valley issues and offers one-on-one consulting for businesses that want to learn more about budgeting, cost analysis, bidding on government contracting and other issues.
“But that’s just a starting point on a long journey,” said registered patent attorney Vincent LoTempio of the law firm Kloss, Stenger and LoTempio.
