Mace named assistant director of WSU’s small business development center Print E-mail

Dave Mace starts this week as the assistant director of the Wichita State University’s Kansas Small Business Development Center.

He was promoted to replace Frank Choriego, who left the KSBDC to pursue private business opportunities.

New Jersey Small Business Development Center reports mid-year job creation and retention and busines Print E-mail

The New Jersey Small Business Development Centers, which avoided elimination in the state budget, announced mid-year figures on job creation and retention and business assistance.

So far this year, the center helped create 1,000 positions and retain 4,457, said Associate State Director Deborah Smarth.

"Retaining business and jobs has been a very big issue in the past two years," she said, and employers have sought the center's guidance on structuring and refocusing operations to keep positions to be prepared when the economy rebounds. "The numbers are overall pretty strong considering the weak economic recovery we're having," said Smarth.

"Starting Your Small Business in Hawaiʻi" workshop offered Print E-mail

An expert from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will conduct a workshop on September 15 from 9-11 a.m. for those interested in fulfilling that dream of going into business for themselves. The workshop will be held at the North Hawaiʻi Education & Research Center, which is located at the former site of the Honokaʻa Hospital. Tuition is $25 and the registration deadline is September 13.
