Excerpt:   According to the American Translators Association, in the past 10 years, the $11 billion translating and interpreting industry has experienced tremendous growth, increasing at a rate of 10 percent to 15 percent annually. 

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts this growth will continue. Translation and interpretation is expected to increase at a rate of 24 percent over the period of 2006 to 2016, a rate of growth significantly higher than the average for other occupations.

Tax Preparation Services Print E-mail
Excerpt:   The Internal Revenue Service is considering registering or licensing paid tax preparers such as H&R Block Inc. and Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. as part of a broad review of the way Americans file tax returns, Commissioner Doug Shulman said. 

Shulman told a House Ways and Means subcommittee today he is preparing a “comprehensive set of recommendations” that may include new regulations for preparers to help recover an estimated $290 billion in uncollected taxes. He later told reporters that may include a registration or licensing requirement.
