The independent sector employs 10.9 million workers, where health services represented the 49% of total annual revenue in 1997.* Just less than half of the adult population volunteered an average of 3.6 hours per week in 2000.** The Independent Sector organization has placed an hourly value on the time volunteered, which has risen from $15.40 to $16.05 in 2001, based on the average hourly earnings for private nonagricultural workers (BLS), plus 12% for estimated fringe benefits.**

Provides a wealth of informative information on starting and running a non-profit organization. INC contains a library and FAQ section on a wide range of topics. The site also contains a directory of non-profit organizations registered with IRS.
